With only the weekend ahead, the pace of #GEW2019 may slow a bit but there are still a number of highlights to share. GEN’s Vice President of Global Operations, Buke Cuhadar, took part in ringing the bell of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange to open GEW Israel. Yesterday, Co-Chair of GEN Africa, Kizito Okechukwu, helped ring the bell of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange to celebrate GEW South Africa.

Women Closing the Gender Gap According to Mastercard Index of Women Entrepreneurs
Female entrepreneurs around the world are making significant strides to overcome gender-related biases and advance their businesses – however, there is still a long way to go. A new report released during Global Entrepreneurship Week by Mastercard shows high-income economies with the most conducive environments but that women entrepreneurs are also thriving where cultural and social conditions remain a challenge.
From Startups to Scaleups: A Nigerian Policy Dialogue
Adenike Adeyemi, executive director of FATE Foundation and a member of GEN’s Startup Nations and Global Entrepreneurship Research Network, shares a quick look at a #GEW2019 event in Lagos focused on enabling the ecosystem through research, policy dialogue and advocacy. The series is being done in partnership with Citi Foundation, GEN Nigeria and Verraki.
New, Green Role Models Taking Over the Danish Startup Scene
The Danish government has set the goal of reducing carbon dioxide CO2 emissions 70% by 2030 – and startups in Aarhus, the country’s second largest city, are demonstrating during #GEW2019 that they are ready to help fight climate change and foster a more sustainable world. Overall, GEW Denmark features more than 200 events held by 50 partner organizations across the country.
Celebrating GEW 2019 in Nepal
Ayushma Mahargan of the Samriddhi Foundation, host of GEW Nepal and supported by Center for International Private Enterprise, offers an overview of efforts to spotlight prominent Nepalese startups while addressing persistent challenges and regulatory barriers facing all entrepreneurs there.
